Slide and Splash September 2024
So something different for you readers. I recently went on a holiday to the Algarve in Portugal and decided to visit Slide and Splash. The last time I visited this park was 2019 and since then they have added a whole new slide tower and refurbed 2 other slides!!!
Luckily I have a friend who lives in the area so we get the locals rate of 20 euros, not bad for a day at a waterpark!!!! Normal price when booked online is arounds 27-35 euros depending if you go during peak season. To get to the park we used Uber and it only cost us around 8 Euros each way, so Uber is the cheap option in the Algarve currently.
So we arrived, got our tickets, the first thing I notice is the upgrade on facilities. The Lockers no longer require a deposit as they are now digital and you get a printed wristband to unlock your locker throughout the day. These were priced at 5 euros for small and 10 euros for large, not bad tbh.
So it was now around 11am, so if you know me and my Vlogs, the first stop was not a slide….. but the bar, time for a large 750ml beer, for the price of 4 euro 20, that’s like £.70… dirt cheap. The beer sold is superbok which isn’t too bad at all, was nice and refreshing in the 27 degree heat.
The first stop was the new slide tower, this container a raft “boomerang” slide, a 6 lane mat racer slide and then 2 drop slides. I have done multiple drop slides before at both Volcano Bay in Florida and at Europa Parks Rulantica… the ones at slide and splash for some reason require you to wear a back board, and I can see why.,… Damn they were fast!!! The Racer Slide was good fun and so was the boomerang ring slide, we made a challenge with the boomerang to see how far along the run off we could make it.
Next was all the big slides on the main mountain, top tip lie on your heel and shoulders and lift your bum up… makes you go a lot lot faster. These are just your traditional body slides but ultimately still fun and have all been refurbished over the last few years.
Lunch was a burger meal with chips, onion rings and a PINT, only 12 Euros, so about £10, not bad for “theme park food”. It was just your average burger, but the onion rings were lovely! Not many food options at Slide and splash, basically burgers, hotdogs or pizza, but for a lunchtime snack do you need anything else at a waterpark?
The afternoon was going round the other slides and ticking them all off. I love the 6 lane body racer slide, the kamikaze and especially the wave (which fi you go down backwards is hella scary!!). We arrive at the park around 10:30 and left at 3:30, the hot tub for 7 minutes (timed sessions) made us sleepy.
I really enjoy slide and splash and will try visit every time I am in the Algarve. There was no queues even on this Saturday as we went mid September, but be aware if you go end f July and August the waterpark can be rammed as it is peak season!!!
