Blackpool Pleasure Beach Opening Weekend 2024

So im sure you have all heard it from various vlog… the infamous Blackpool Pleasure Beach opening day (sorry Pleasure beach resort, or is it pleasure beach Lancashire?). You always expect disappointment, but ive always had fun at Blackpool.

The Friday drive, after a half day at work and leaving at 12:30, it still took 5 hours… yay.. so where to head when checked into our lovely B&B…. SPOONS! The always fun Friday night velvet coaster, catching up with friends and of course many drinks. Then the night went on with the usual popworld antics

Saturday morning, wake up to a lovely message on Blackpool availability page – Big one closed, great start. Considering they ran a competition for first riders and nothing was heard of before, this was disappointing, especially as I took a friend for the first time. We had the usual Amanda Thompson opening speech, that was an interesting one. So moving on, we did get to ride icon, running on 2 trains and amazingly as usual. Reliability however, lets play the game of how many times avalanched stalled, revolution broke down or Valhalla was evacuated. It just looked like the rides did not get enough run time before opening.

A few beers across the day helped and what I will say is Big dipper ran 2 trains – Hoorah! This massively helped with the queue. Infusion was also closed all day, but I wasn’t too fussed about that one. We did do Valhalla and unfortunately a lot of the effects were off, again not too fussed as I came off a little drier. I think you know the rest, more downtime and bad weather means long queues and not the best experience, I was glad we had a 2nd day to visit.

After another meal in the velvet coaster and some more drinks, it was time for day 2. Sunday had lovely sunny weather, the big one was testing all morning, running round that turnaround , but no, once everyone headed to the big one, closed… testing all day, a real disappointment. I will say on the Sunday infusion was open, avalanche and big dipper had 2 trains, and there was a lot less downtime, so overall a much better day. Still a shame about he big one though. We stayed on the Sunday until around 2pm, due to the drive home but had a much better day, enjoying more rides and the Blackpool sun. A big shout out to the pleasure beach customer service team, who because we had 2 day tickets, when they offered a free day for the Sunday, changed it to an open day ticket so we can return! Great customer service there and we will visit again sometime.

So the next trip…. The reopening of NEMESIS!

See you then 😀
